


The SUSTLAND project: Redesigning Borders, Recognizing Professions, Transforming Landscapes, was approved for the Erasmus+ program (KA210-VET) in October 2025 and is a joint organization of the Spanish Association of Landscape Architects AEP (coordination), IFLA Europe, and the Portuguese Association of Landscape Architects APAP. Lasting 18 months, from October 20, 2025 to April 19, 2027, the program is aimed at professionals, students, trainers, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
OBJECTIVES
To promote the implementation of the principles expressed in the European Landscape Convention
To increase recognition of the landscape architect profession in Europe (3 to 5 years)
- Only 8 countries in the European Union recognize landscape architecture;
- Promote professional mobility.
To empower training for market dynamics and promotion of quality of life
- Alignment with values of ecological sustainability, social inclusion and economic development.
To improve employability
- Access to new opportunities (internships and employability).
To promote intersectoral collaboration
- Partnerships between academia, the public and private sectors.
ACTIVITIES
Project Management and Coordination
- Regular meetings, continuous evaluation and monitoring of the level of awareness about the importance/value of the profession;
- Organization of three seminars and six working sessions (Spain and Portugal).
- Recommendations for the academic, public and private sectors;
Current Situation analysis
- Detailed reports on the state of the profession in partner countries for the following sectors: academic, public and private (identification of gaps and challenges);
Recomendation and Workshops
- Workshops with stakeholders to share and implement recommendations;
Communication and Dissemination
- Events and promotional materials on social media and Erasmus+ platforms;

Final dissemination event in Brussels.
